Description
Vasoactive intestinal peptide (VIP) is a 28-amino acid neuropeptide originally isolated from the intestine. In avian species, such as the chicken, VIP differs from its mammalian counterpart by four amino acids. This peptide is synthesized in hypothalamic neurons, particularly within the medial basal hypothalamus, and is transported to nerve terminals in the median eminence. Immunohistochemical studies demonstrate that VIP-containing neurons and their terminals are more abundant and exhibit increased immunoreactivity in incubating birds compared to laying birds. Radioimmunoassay data further indicate significantly higher concentrations of VIP in the median eminence and medial basal hypothalamus during incubation. These observations suggest that hypothalamic VIP functions as a physiologically significant prolactin-releasing factor in avian neuroendocrine regulation.

About TFA salt
Trifluoroacetic acid (TFA) is a common counterion from the purification process using High-Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC). The presence of TFA can affect the peptide's net weight, appearance, and solubility.
Impact on Net Weight: The TFA salt contributes to the total mass of the product. In most cases, the peptide content constitutes >80% of the total weight, with TFA accounting for the remainder.
Solubility: TFA salts generally enhance the solubility of peptides in aqueous solutions.
In Biological Assays: For most standard in vitro assays, the residual TFA levels do not cause interference. However, for highly sensitive cellular or biochemical studies, please be aware of its presence.
