Description
Recombinant Syntaxin-1A homolog (Uncoordinated protein 64) fragment (amino acids 1-266) from Caenorhabditis elegans. This high-purity protein includes the complete t-SNARE coiled-coil homology domain (193-255), making it an ideal tool for studying secretory processes, synaptic vesicle dynamics, and neuronal function.
Syntaxin-1A homolog, encoded by the unc-64 gene in C. elegans, plays critical roles in multiple secretory pathways including cuticle secretion and neurotransmitter release. This protein is essential for synaptic vesicle docking and tethering through its association with unc-18, mediating acetylcholine release from cholinergic motor neurons to regulate locomotory behaviors. It is vital for embryonic viability, development, dauer formation, adult lifespan, and locomotion. The protein localizes to the cell membrane as a single-pass type IV membrane protein and is found in axons, dendrites, and perikaryon, indicating its broad neuronal distribution and functional significance in membrane maturation and neuronal differentiation processes.
