Description
This product is a recombinant fragment of the human Transcription factor SOX-13 (also known as Islet cell antigen 12 or SRY-box 13), encompassing amino acids 109-221. This 113-amino acid fragment has been computationally selected for its stability and solubility, making it an ideal tool for structural studies, biochemical assays, and functional investigations into SOX-13's roles in transcription regulation and immune cell development.
Transcription factor SOX-13 is a DNA-binding protein that recognizes the consensus sequence 5'-AACAAT-3'. It functions as a transcriptional regulator, binding to promoters of genes such as myelin protein MPZ and myelin basic protein (MBP), where it can act as a repressor, particularly in oligodendroglia differentiation during spinal tube development. SOX-13 modulates T-cell development by interacting with TCF7/TCF1, influencing gamma-delta T-cell differentiation and IL17A expression, and regulates BLK expression in this context. Additionally, it promotes brown adipocyte differentiation and acts as an inhibitor of WNT signaling. The protein is localized to both the nucleus and cytoplasm, reflecting its diverse regulatory roles in cellular processes.
