Description
Recombinant human Sodium/potassium-transporting ATPase subunit beta-1 (ATP1B1) fragment (residues 63-303) is a high-quality, stable protein designed for structural and biochemical studies. This 241-amino acid fragment has been computationally optimized for solubility and stability, making it an ideal tool for investigating the regulatory functions of the sodium pump and its roles in cellular physiology.
Sodium/potassium-transporting ATPase subunit beta-1 is the non-catalytic component of the sodium-potassium pump, which catalyzes ATP hydrolysis coupled with sodium and potassium ion exchange across the plasma membrane. The beta subunit regulates sodium pump transport to the plasma membrane through assembly with alpha subunits and plays additional roles in cell adhesion and epithelial polarity establishment. Recent research has revealed its involvement in innate immunity by enhancing virus-triggered interferon induction through regulation of TRAF3/TRAF6 ubiquitination and TAK1/TBK1 phosphorylation. The protein localizes to the cell membrane as a single-pass type II membrane protein, with specific localization to apical cell membranes and sarcolemma in cardiomyocytes, where it forms striated patterns at Z and M lines.
