Description
The peptide Z-Arg-Arg-AMC is a highly selective substrate used to measure cathepsin B activity. It is utilized in an assay to survey cancer cell lines for cathepsin B activity. The use of the dibasic substrate Z-Arg-Arg-AMC is preferred over the monobasic substrate Z-Phe-Arg-AMC because there are other species of cysteine proteases within the cells which can hydrolyze Z-Phe-Arg-AMC (e.g. cathepsin L) and thus can contribute to the proteolytic activity measured by this substrate.
