Z-Ala-Ala-Asn-AMC (Cbz-Ala-Ala-Asn-AMC) is the legumain substrate. Legumain is a lysosomal protease that specifically cleaves asparaginyl bonds. It has been reported to be overexpressed in the majority of human solid tumors and is associated with enhanced tissue invasion and metastases, making it a promising candidate for prodrug therapy. CBZ-Ala-Ala-Asn-AMC is an important tool for studying the activity of legumain and its potential as a target for prodrug therapy.
