Description
Recombinant Human Tetraspanin-17 (Tspan-17) Fragment (aa 116-234) - A highly stable and soluble protein fragment ideal for structural studies and biochemical characterization of this important ADAM10-interacting tetraspanin protein.
Tetraspanin-17 is a member of the TspanC8 subgroup of tetraspanins that specifically interact with the transmembrane metalloprotease ADAM10. This interaction is essential for ADAM10's exit from the endoplasmic reticulum, enzymatic maturation, trafficking to the cell surface, and substrate specificity. Different TspanC8/ADAM10 complexes exhibit distinct substrate preferences, with Tspan-17 appearing to regulate VE-cadherin expression in endothelial cells, potentially promoting leukocyte transmigration. The full-length protein is localized to the cell membrane as a multi-pass membrane protein. The selected fragment (amino acids 116-234) represents a stable, soluble unit optimized for experimental applications without containing known functional domains.
