  • Description
Temporin [K3]SHa is a synthetic peptide analog of temporin-SHa (SHa). It was designed to improve the antibacterial and antiparasitic activity of SHa. [K3]SHa exhibits potent activity against a wide range of bacteria (MIC = 1 - 6 μM for most tested bacteria), yeasts/fungi (MIC = 3 - 25 μM), and trypanosomatids (Leishmania and Trypanosoma). It is also effective against antibiotic-resistant strains of S. aureus and antimony-resistant L. infantum. [K3]SHa is significantly more active than the parent peptide SHa, especially against Gram-negative bacteria and yeasts/fungi. For example, the MIC values decreased by approximately 8-fold for P. aeruginosa, 4-fold for S. enterica, and 3-fold for E. coli. [K3]SHa also has potent and rapid antiprotozoal activities against different species of Leishmania (responsible for visceral, cutaneous, and mucocutaneous leishmaniases) and Trypanosoma (T. brucei gambiense and T. cruzi).

  • About TFA salt

Trifluoroacetic acid (TFA) is a common counterion from the purification process using High-Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC). The presence of TFA can affect the peptide's net weight, appearance, and solubility.

Impact on Net Weight: The TFA salt contributes to the total mass of the product. In most cases, the peptide content constitutes >80% of the total weight, with TFA accounting for the remainder.

Solubility: TFA salts generally enhance the solubility of peptides in aqueous solutions.

In Biological Assays: For most standard in vitro assays, the residual TFA levels do not cause interference. However, for highly sensitive cellular or biochemical studies, please be aware of its presence.
