  • Description

Tachykinin-related peptide 2 (TRP2) is a neuropeptide identified in the honeybee Apis mellifera. It is one of seven tachykinin-related peptides (AmTRP1-7) encoded by the prepro-AmTRP gene. The peptide has the amino acid sequence ALMGFQGVRamide and possesses the C-terminal motif FX1GX2Ramide, which is characteristic of invertebrate tachykinin-related peptides.

Expression analysis of the prepro-AmTRP gene indicates differential regulation in honeybee castes. Transcript levels are highest in the heads of forager bees and queens, lower in nurse bees, and nearly absent in drones. This expression pattern suggests the peptide may function as a neuromodulator or hormone associated with age-related division of labor and sex-specific physiology in honeybees.

  • Storage Guidelines

  • About TFA salt

Trifluoroacetic acid (TFA) is a common counterion from the purification process using High-Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC). The presence of TFA can affect the peptide's net weight, appearance, and solubility.

Impact on Net Weight: The TFA salt contributes to the total mass of the product. In most cases, the peptide content constitutes >80% of the total weight, with TFA accounting for the remainder.

Solubility: TFA salts generally enhance the solubility of peptides in aqueous solutions.

In Biological Assays: For most standard in vitro assays, the residual TFA levels do not cause interference. However, for highly sensitive cellular or biochemical studies, please be aware of its presence.
