  • Description

Syntide 2 is a peptide substrate designed for calcium- and calmodulin-dependent kinases. In barley aleurone protoplasts, Syntide 2 selectively inhibits the gibberellin (GA) response without affecting constitutive or abscisic acid-regulated events. The peptide does not interfere with the GA-induced increase in cytosolic calcium levels, indicating its action occurs downstream of the calcium signal. Photoaffinity-labeled Syntide 2 selectively interacts with proteins of approximately 30 and 55 kD in situ. Additionally, a soluble 54-kD Syntide 2-phosphorylating protein kinase, activated by calcium and independent of calmodulin, has been identified in aleurone cells. This kinase is implicated as a calcium-dependent regulator of the GA response.

  • About TFA salt

Trifluoroacetic acid (TFA) is a common counterion from the purification process using High-Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC). The presence of TFA can affect the peptide's net weight, appearance, and solubility.

Impact on Net Weight: The TFA salt contributes to the total mass of the product. In most cases, the peptide content constitutes >80% of the total weight, with TFA accounting for the remainder.

Solubility: TFA salts generally enhance the solubility of peptides in aqueous solutions.

In Biological Assays: For most standard in vitro assays, the residual TFA levels do not cause interference. However, for highly sensitive cellular or biochemical studies, please be aware of its presence.
