  • Description
Suc-AAPF-pNA(succinyl-Ala-Ala-Pro-Phe-4-nitroanilide) is a peptide substrate of human leukocyte cathepsin G. The researchers investigated the secondary substrate specificity of cathepsin G by testing various peptide substrates. They found that Suc-AAPF-pNAwas one of the better substrates for cathepsin G. Compared to other substrates, those with a negatively charged P₅ group (such as Suc -, Suc(4F) -, Glt -, or Mal-Ala-Ala-Pro-Phe-NA) were more effective for cathepsin G. Additionally, the article mentions that Suc-AAPF-pNAwas not hydrolyzed by human leukocyte elastase, indicating that it is specific for cathepsin G. These findings suggest that Suc-AAPF-pNA can be a useful tool for studying the biological function of cathepsin G.

  • About TFA salt

Trifluoroacetic acid (TFA) is a common counterion from the purification process using High-Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC). The presence of TFA can affect the peptide's net weight, appearance, and solubility.

Impact on Net Weight: The TFA salt contributes to the total mass of the product. In most cases, the peptide content constitutes >80% of the total weight, with TFA accounting for the remainder.

Solubility: TFA salts generally enhance the solubility of peptides in aqueous solutions.

In Biological Assays: For most standard in vitro assays, the residual TFA levels do not cause interference. However, for highly sensitive cellular or biochemical studies, please be aware of its presence.
