  • Description

Stresscopin-Related Peptide (6-43) (human), also known as Urocortin II (Ucn 2), is a 38-amino acid neuropeptide belonging to the corticotropin-releasing factor (CRF) family. It is characterized by its high selectivity for the type 2 CRF receptor (CRF2), exhibiting approximately 1000-fold greater affinity for CRF2 over CRF1 receptors. This peptide does not bind to the human CRF-binding protein.

Central administration of Urocortin II demonstrates specific biological effects, including the suppression of food and water intake in animal models. Its activity profile differs from that of CRF1 receptor agonists; Ucn 2 reduces intake without inducing behavioral arousal or signs of visceral illness, and under dietary choice conditions, it preferentially reduces consumption of carbohydrate-rich items. Furthermore, it is associated with delayed-onset, non-dose-dependent suppression of motor activity, contrasting with the acute motor-stimulating effects of CRF1 receptor activation.

  • Storage Guidelines
Normally, this peptide will be delivered in lyophilized form and should be stored in a freezer at or below -20 °C. For more details, please refer to the manual: Handling and Storage of Synthetic Peptides

  • About TFA salt

Trifluoroacetic acid (TFA) is a common counterion from the purification process using High-Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC). The presence of TFA can affect the peptide's net weight, appearance, and solubility.

Impact on Net Weight: The TFA salt contributes to the total mass of the product. In most cases, the peptide content constitutes >80% of the total weight, with TFA accounting for the remainder.

Solubility: TFA salts generally enhance the solubility of peptides in aqueous solutions.

In Biological Assays: For most standard in vitro assays, the residual TFA levels do not cause interference. However, for highly sensitive cellular or biochemical studies, please be aware of its presence.
