Strep-tag II is a synthetic peptide of the sequence WSHPQFEK that shows affinity towards engineered streptavidin and can be fused to recombinant proteins for isolation from cell lysates. The strep tag is inert and does not interfere with protein folding or secretion and is thereful useful in the analysis of functional proteins and for purification under physiological conditions.
