Description
Sincalide is a synthetic polypeptide hormone analog of cholecystokinin, composed of amino acids. It exhibits hepatobiliary physiological effects by stimulating bile secretion, inducing gallbladder contraction, and relaxing the sphincter of Oddi, facilitating bile drainage into the duodenum. The peptide is known for its specificity and minimal side effects, primarily nausea and abdominal cramping when administered too rapidly.
Structurally, sincalide mimics the C-terminal octapeptide of cholecystokinin, retaining its biological activity. The peptide's mechanism involves binding to cholecystokinin receptors on gallbladder smooth muscle cells and biliary tree epithelia. Optimal activity is observed with controlled infusion rates, as rapid administration can lead to receptor desensitization and physiological artifacts. Its molecular properties make it a valuable tool for studying biliary physiology and related biological processes.

About TFA salt
Trifluoroacetic acid (TFA) is a common counterion from the purification process using High-Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC). The presence of TFA can affect the peptide's net weight, appearance, and solubility.
Impact on Net Weight: The TFA salt contributes to the total mass of the product. In most cases, the peptide content constitutes >80% of the total weight, with TFA accounting for the remainder.
Solubility: TFA salts generally enhance the solubility of peptides in aqueous solutions.
In Biological Assays: For most standard in vitro assays, the residual TFA levels do not cause interference. However, for highly sensitive cellular or biochemical studies, please be aware of its presence.
