Description
Short neuropeptide F (sNPF) is a neuropeptide found in invertebrates, including insects such as honey bees (Apis mellifera). It is a short variant of neuropeptide F and functions in neural signaling pathways. Research indicates that sNPF modulates appetitive motivation and influences cognitive processes like learning and memory formation. In honey bees, increased levels of sNPF enhance responsiveness to appetitive stimuli and promote the acquisition and retention of visual memories, such as color associations, without direct involvement in metabolic or feeding regulation.
