  • Description

Senktide is a selective tachykinin NK3 receptor agonist, characterized by its ability to induce hyperlocomotion in male Mongolian gerbils upon intracerebroventricular injection. This peptide exhibits dose-dependent effects, with significant locomotor activity observed at doses ranging from 0.06 nmol to 0.6 nmol. The hyperlocomotion induced by senktide is mediated through tachykinin NK3 receptor activation, as demonstrated by its blockade with specific NK3 receptor antagonists such as SB222200, talnetant, and osanetant.

Senktide's action is linked to the modulation of dopaminergic systems, evidenced by the reversal of its locomotor effects with dopamine D2 receptor antagonists. Additionally, synergistic interactions with tachykinin NK1 receptor antagonism highlight complex receptor cross-talk mechanisms. The peptide's behavioral effects, including foot tapping and locomotion, vary with dose, reflecting its role in studying tachykinin NK3 receptor signaling pathways.

  • Storage Guidelines

  • About TFA salt

Trifluoroacetic acid (TFA) is a common counterion from the purification process using High-Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC). The presence of TFA can affect the peptide's net weight, appearance, and solubility.

Impact on Net Weight: The TFA salt contributes to the total mass of the product. In most cases, the peptide content constitutes >80% of the total weight, with TFA accounting for the remainder.

Solubility: TFA salts generally enhance the solubility of peptides in aqueous solutions.

In Biological Assays: For most standard in vitro assays, the residual TFA levels do not cause interference. However, for highly sensitive cellular or biochemical studies, please be aware of its presence.
