Prostasin (PRSS8) is a trypsin-like serine protease with specificity for poly-basic substrates, known to stimulate epithelial sodium channel (ENaC) activity through proteolytic cleavage of the gamma subunits. The full-length protein exists in multiple forms: membrane-bound as a single-pass membrane protein, and cleaved forms (light and heavy chains) that are secreted into extracellular spaces such as seminal fluid.
