    GGGPQGIWGQGK (PQ), which has been shown to render synthetic hydrogels degradable when incorporated into the polymer backbone.MMP- 2 and MMP-9, secreted by endothelial cells, cleave the PQ pep-tide in the polymer backbone, resulting in the degradation of PEG hydrogel.
