Description
Recombinant Human Phosphatidylinositol 4-kinase type 2-beta (PI4K2B) fragment (amino acids 96-481), encompassing the complete PI3K/PI4K catalytic domain. This high-purity protein is an essential tool for investigating phosphatidylinositol phosphorylation, PIP2 synthesis, and intracellular signaling pathways in membrane trafficking and second messenger production.
Phosphatidylinositol 4-kinase type 2-beta (PI4K2B), encoded by the PI4K2B gene, works alongside PI4K2A and type III PI4Ks to drive cellular phosphatidylinositol 4-kinase activity, particularly at the plasma membrane, endosomes, and Golgi apparatus. It catalyzes the phosphorylation of phosphatidylinositol (PI) to PI4P, the committed step in generating phosphatidylinositol 4,5-bisphosphate (PIP2), a key precursor to the second messenger inositol 1,4,5-trisphosphate (InsP3). This enzyme contributes to InsP3 production in stimulated cells and is implicated in regulating vesicular trafficking. PI4K2B is primarily cytosolic but associates with Golgi, endoplasmic reticulum, plasma membrane, and early endosome membranes, with membrane localization enhanced by active RAC1.
