P15 is a synthetic 15-amino acid peptide derived from the (766)GTPGPQGIAGQRGVV(780) sequence found in the α1(I) chain of type I collagen. Several studies have demonstrated that P15 enhances cell adhesion, osteoblastic gene expression and mineralization on anorganic bone matrix (ABM) in vitro and accelerates early bone formation in porcine and rat cranial defects.
