Description
Recombinant Human Serine/threonine-protein kinase OSR1 (EC 2.7.11.1) Fragment (residues 2-315) – a high-purity, functional protein fragment encompassing the complete protein kinase domain. This product is an essential tool for investigating the WNK-SPAK/OSR1 signaling cascade, ion transport regulation, and cellular stress responses in experimental models.
OSR1 (Oxidative stress-responsive 1 protein), encoded by the OXSR1 gene in humans, is a key effector serine/threonine-protein kinase within the WNK-SPAK/OSR1 kinase cascade. It plays a central role in diverse physiological processes, including ion homeostasis, hypertonic stress adaptation, blood pressure regulation, and angiogenesis. OSR1 specifically recognizes RFXV motifs in target proteins and, upon activation by WNK kinases, phosphorylates ion cotransporters such as SLC12A1/NKCC2, SLC12A2/NKCC1, SLC12A3/NCC, SLC12A5/KCC2, and SLC12A6/KCC3 to modulate their activity. This kinase also regulates potassium channels like KCNJ2/Kir2.1 and KCNJ4/Kir2.3, influences regulatory volume increase, and participates in NaCl reabsorption in the kidney. OSR1 is localized in the cytoplasm, where it orchestrates critical signaling pathways impacting cellular and systemic functions.
