Description
Recombinant Human Oligodendrocyte transcription factor 2 (Oligo2) fragment (amino acids 101-179) is a high-purity protein designed for functional studies. This fragment fully encompasses the essential basic helix-loop-helix (bHLH) domain, making it an ideal tool for investigating Oligo2's role in neural development, oligodendrocyte specification, and transcription factor interactions.
Oligodendrocyte transcription factor 2 (Oligo2), encoded by the OLIG2 gene, is a critical regulator in neural development. It is required for the specification of oligodendrocytes and motor neurons in the spinal cord, as well as for the development of somatic motor neurons in the hindbrain. Oligo2 cooperates with OLIG1 to establish the pMN domain of the embryonic neural tube and works with ZNF488 to promote oligodendrocyte differentiation. Additionally, it functions as an antagonist of V2 interneuron and NKX2-2-induced V3 interneuron development. The protein localizes to both the nucleus and cytoplasm, with nuclear translocation potentially mediated by interactions with class E bHLH partner proteins or NKX2-2, while the nuclear localization signal in the bHLH domain may be masked in the native form.
