  • Description

Recombinant Human NKG2-A/NKG2-B (CD159a) C-type Lectin Domain (aa 94-233) is a high-purity protein fragment encompassing the complete C-type lectin functional domain (aa 118-231). This product is ideal for investigating immune inhibitory receptor function, NK cell regulation, and HLA-E-mediated signaling pathways in immunological research.

NKG2-A/NKG2-B type II integral membrane protein (KLRC1 gene product) functions as a crucial immune inhibitory receptor that enables cytotoxic and regulatory lymphocytes to discriminate between self and non-self. It forms complexes with KLRD1 to recognize HLA-E molecules loaded with self-peptides derived from classical MHC class I signal sequences. Through its immunoreceptor tyrosine-based inhibition motifs (ITIMs), it recruits SHP-1 and SHP-2 tyrosine phosphatases to oppose activating receptor signals, thereby regulating NK cell activation and effector functions. The protein also plays critical roles in maintaining immune tolerance on memory/effector CD8+ T cells and intraepithelial regulatory T cells. Notably, NKG2-A acts as an immune checkpoint in HLA-E-rich tumor microenvironments and contributes to viral immune evasion mechanisms employed by human cytomegalovirus, HIV-1, and SARS-CoV-2. The protein is localized to the cell membrane as a single-pass type II membrane protein, with the extracellular C-type lectin domain mediating specific HLA-E recognition and binding interactions.
