Description
Recombinant Human L3MBTL1 Protein Fragment (aa 273-589) is a high-quality, stable, and soluble protein designed for structural and biochemical studies. This fragment of the Lethal(3)malignant brain tumor-like protein 1 (L3MBTL1) retains key functional characteristics, making it an ideal tool for investigating chromatin remodeling and transcriptional repression mechanisms.
L3MBTL1 is a Polycomb group (PcG) protein in Homo sapiens that functions as a 'reader' of post-translational modifications, specifically recognizing and binding mono- and dimethyllysine residues on target proteins. It plays a critical role in chromatin compaction by binding methylated histones H1b (at Lys-26) and H4 (at Lys-20), leading to transcriptional repression. Additionally, L3MBTL1 binds monomethylated p53/TP53 at Lys-382 and RB1/RB at Lys-860, repressing target genes and influencing cell proliferation and mitosis. Located in the nucleus but excluded from the nucleolus, L3MBTL1 does not colocalize with other PcG proteins like BMI1, indicating distinct complex associations. This recombinant fragment (aa 273-589) was selected for its stability and solubility, enabling detailed analysis of its molecular interactions.
