  • Description

The little LEN peptide is a bioactive peptide derived from the proprotein convertase subtilisin/kexin type 1 inhibitor (proSAAS). Its sequence is LETPAPQVPA, corresponding to residues 245-254 of the proSAAS precursor protein. This peptide is generated through specific proteolytic cleavage at dibasic amino acid sites, a characteristic processing mechanism for neuroendocrine peptides. In cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) peptidomics studies, the intact form of little LEN has been identified alongside other proSAAS-derived peptides.

Research indicates that peptides originating from the proSAAS protein, including little LEN, are present in the CSF peptidome. These peptides are of interest due to their potential physiological activity and their altered abundance in neurodegenerative conditions. The identification of such specific peptide forms contributes to the understanding of the complex peptidomic landscape within the central nervous system.

  • Storage Guidelines

  • About TFA salt

Trifluoroacetic acid (TFA) is a common counterion from the purification process using High-Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC). The presence of TFA can affect the peptide's net weight, appearance, and solubility.

Impact on Net Weight: The TFA salt contributes to the total mass of the product. In most cases, the peptide content constitutes >80% of the total weight, with TFA accounting for the remainder.

Solubility: TFA salts generally enhance the solubility of peptides in aqueous solutions.

In Biological Assays: For most standard in vitro assays, the residual TFA levels do not cause interference. However, for highly sensitive cellular or biochemical studies, please be aware of its presence.
