    ​A novel cell membrane affinity chromatography method screened Jatropha curcas, isolating the cationic antimicrobial peptide JCpep7 (KVFLGLK).​​ JCpep7 exhibited broad activity against Gram-negative and Gram-positive bacteria (including Salmonella, Shigella, Pseudomonas, Staphylococcus, Bacillus, and Streptococcus), with MICs between 24 and 64 µg/mL. FTIR and TEM studies revealed its mechanism: disrupting cell walls and membranes, leading to lysis. This demonstrates membrane affinity chromatography's potential for high-throughput AMP discovery from J. curcas.
