  • Description

GLP-1(7-37) is a peptide derived from the tissue-specific processing of proglucagon in the intestine and brain of chickens. The chicken proglucagon gene expresses multiple mRNA transcripts, and in the brain and gut, proglucagon B is cleaved by PC2 to generate glicentin, oxyntomodulin, GLP-1 and GLP-2. The amino acid sequence of glucagon is highly conserved between mammals and chickens, whereas that of GLP-2 is not, suggesting that glucagon-related peptides may play different physiological roles among vertebrates.

In chickens, GLP-1 functions as an anorexigenic peptide in the central nervous system. GLP-1-immunoreactive perikarya are found in the nucleus tractus solitarii, and proglucagon mRNA levels in the brainstem or medulla oblongata decrease after 24 hours of fasting. Chicken GLP1R is highly expressed in the telencephalon, midbrain, hindbrain and hypothalamus. Both the N- and C-terminal regions of GLP-1 may have important roles for the regulation of food intake in chickens.

  • About TFA salt

Trifluoroacetic acid (TFA) is a common counterion from the purification process using High-Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC). The presence of TFA can affect the peptide's net weight, appearance, and solubility.

Impact on Net Weight: The TFA salt contributes to the total mass of the product. In most cases, the peptide content constitutes >80% of the total weight, with TFA accounting for the remainder.

Solubility: TFA salts generally enhance the solubility of peptides in aqueous solutions.

In Biological Assays: For most standard in vitro assays, the residual TFA levels do not cause interference. However, for highly sensitive cellular or biochemical studies, please be aware of its presence.
