  • Description

Flg22 is a conserved 22-amino acid peptide derived from the N-terminal region of flagellin, a structural protein of bacterial flagella. In the context of Pseudomonas syringae pv. tabaci (P.s.tabaci), this peptide, with the sequence TRLSSGLKINSAKDDAAGLQIA, functions as a potent pathogen-associated molecular pattern (PAMP). It is recognized by the plant receptor FLS2, initiating innate immune responses such as the activation of defense-related genes, including NHO1 in Arabidopsis.

This flagellin-derived elicitor plays a critical role in nonhost resistance, a plant species-level defense mechanism. Experimental evidence demonstrates that a P. syringae pv. tabaci mutant lacking flagellin fails to induce the NHO1 gene and exhibits enhanced growth in Arabidopsis, indicating that flg22-triggered signaling is essential for limiting bacterial proliferation. In contrast, virulent pathogens like P. syringae pv. tomato DC3000 employ type III secretion system effectors to actively suppress this flg22-induced immune response.

  • About TFA salt

Trifluoroacetic acid (TFA) is a common counterion from the purification process using High-Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC). The presence of TFA can affect the peptide's net weight, appearance, and solubility.

Impact on Net Weight: The TFA salt contributes to the total mass of the product. In most cases, the peptide content constitutes >80% of the total weight, with TFA accounting for the remainder.

Solubility: TFA salts generally enhance the solubility of peptides in aqueous solutions.

In Biological Assays: For most standard in vitro assays, the residual TFA levels do not cause interference. However, for highly sensitive cellular or biochemical studies, please be aware of its presence.
