Description
This recombinant protein is a 134-amino acid fragment (residues 718-851) of the DEAD-box ATP-dependent DNA helicase Fancm from Drosophila melanogaster. The fragment represents a stable and soluble unit of the protein, making it ideal for structural studies and biochemical assays investigating DNA repair mechanisms.
The full-length Fancm protein is a ssDNA-dependent ATPase with 3' to 5' helicase activity, playing critical roles in multiple DNA damage response pathways. It functions in DNA interstrand cross-link repair through the Fanconi anemia pathway and independently contributes to DNA double-strand break repair via the synthesis-dependent strand annealing (SDSA) pathway. Fancm is localized to the nucleus, where it facilitates DNA repair processes, including unwinding short duplex regions in complex DNA structures to support genomic stability.
