  • Description

Recombinant HLA-DPB1 Protein Fragment (30-225) is a high-purity, functionally relevant fragment derived from the HLA class II histocompatibility antigen, DP beta 1 chain. This product encompasses the Ig-like C1-type domain (residues 124-212), making it an ideal tool for investigating peptide binding, antigen presentation, and immune recognition mechanisms in human MHC class II pathways.

The full-length HLA-DPB1 protein, encoded by the HLA-DPB1 gene in Homo sapiens, functions as a critical component of the MHC class II complex. It binds peptides derived from endocytosed antigens in antigen-presenting cells and presents them on the cell surface for recognition by CD4+ T-cells, facilitating adaptive immune responses. The protein's peptide-binding cleft accommodates peptides of 10-30 residues, primarily generated through lysosomal degradation of exogenous antigens, though endogenous sources like autophagy also contribute. HLA-DPB1 associates with other MHC class II chains and the invariant chain CD74 in the endoplasmic reticulum, forming a heterononamer that traffics through the endosomal-lysosomal pathway. During transit, CD74 is proteolytically processed and replaced by antigenic peptides via HLA-DM-mediated mechanisms, leading to cell surface expression for T-cell engagement. Subcellular localization includes the cell membrane, endoplasmic reticulum, Golgi apparatus, endosomes, and lysosomes, reflecting its dynamic role in antigen processing and presentation across various immune and gastrointestinal tract cells.
