  • Description

Cyclosporin A (CsA) is a cyclic undecapeptide with immunosuppressive properties, primarily known for its ability to inhibit proinflammatory cytokine production. Studies have demonstrated that CsA significantly downregulates the expression of CD11a/CD18 adhesion molecules, heterodimeric proteins critical for leukocyte-endothelial interactions during inflammatory responses. Additionally, CsA modulates key proinflammatory cytokines such as TNFα and IL-1β, which play pivotal roles in leukocyte chemotaxis and activation. The peptide's mechanism involves interference with intracellular signaling pathways, leading to reduced adhesion molecule expression and cytokine secretion.

In experimental models, CsA has been shown to inhibit CD11a/CD18 expression in lung tissues during acute inflammation, correlating with diminished leukocyte migration. The peptide's effects on TNFα and IL-1β levels further highlight its role in attenuating inflammatory cascades. These actions are mediated through pathways involving transcriptional regulation, though the precise molecular interactions remain an area of active investigation. CsA thus serves as a valuable tool for studying immune modulation and cell adhesion dynamics.

  • About TFA salt

Trifluoroacetic acid (TFA) is a common counterion from the purification process using High-Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC). The presence of TFA can affect the peptide's net weight, appearance, and solubility.

Impact on Net Weight: The TFA salt contributes to the total mass of the product. In most cases, the peptide content constitutes >80% of the total weight, with TFA accounting for the remainder.

Solubility: TFA salts generally enhance the solubility of peptides in aqueous solutions.

In Biological Assays: For most standard in vitro assays, the residual TFA levels do not cause interference. However, for highly sensitive cellular or biochemical studies, please be aware of its presence.
