Description
Cyclosaplin is a cyclic octapeptide isolated from somatic seedlings of Santalum album L. (sandalwood). It has a molecular mass of 858 Da and its amino acid sequence was determined as RLGDGCTR. The peptide is cyclic in nature, as confirmed by mass spectrometry and chromatographic analyses. Structural characterization through molecular modeling revealed a compact cyclic conformation with a net positive charge and specific hydrophobic properties.
In scientific studies, cyclosaplin demonstrated significant biological activity in cellular assays. Molecular docking experiments indicated strong binding affinity towards epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) and procaspase 3. The peptide's structure features prominent glycine and arginine residues, contributing to its structural stability and functional characteristics. This cyclic octapeptide represents a novel bioactive molecule from sandalwood with distinct structural and interaction properties.

About TFA salt
Trifluoroacetic acid (TFA) is a common counterion from the purification process using High-Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC). The presence of TFA can affect the peptide's net weight, appearance, and solubility.
Impact on Net Weight: The TFA salt contributes to the total mass of the product. In most cases, the peptide content constitutes >80% of the total weight, with TFA accounting for the remainder.
Solubility: TFA salts generally enhance the solubility of peptides in aqueous solutions.
In Biological Assays: For most standard in vitro assays, the residual TFA levels do not cause interference. However, for highly sensitive cellular or biochemical studies, please be aware of its presence.
