Description
Proinsulin C-peptide is a 31-amino-acid peptide that plays important roles in the human body. It links the A and B chains of proinsulin, ensuring its correct folding. During insulin synthesis, C-peptide is cleaved from proinsulin and released into the circulation in equimolar concentrations with insulin. In the context of blood vessels, it has various effects. It can prevent insulin-induced neointima formation in human saphenous vein by limiting the detrimental effects of insulin on smooth muscle cell function. It also stimulates the proliferation of endothelial cells, which is beneficial for re-endothelialization. The mode of action of C-peptide is not fully understood, but it binds to human cell membranes and may act through a G-protein-coupled receptor in some tissues.

About TFA salt
Trifluoroacetic acid (TFA) is a common counterion from the purification process using High-Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC). The presence of TFA can affect the peptide's net weight, appearance, and solubility.
Impact on Net Weight: The TFA salt contributes to the total mass of the product. In most cases, the peptide content constitutes >80% of the total weight, with TFA accounting for the remainder.
Solubility: TFA salts generally enhance the solubility of peptides in aqueous solutions.
In Biological Assays: For most standard in vitro assays, the residual TFA levels do not cause interference. However, for highly sensitive cellular or biochemical studies, please be aware of its presence.
