  • Description

Recombinant human Serine/threonine-protein kinase BRSK1 fragment (amino acids 1-385), encompassing the complete Protein kinase and UBA domains. This high-purity protein is an essential tool for investigating neuronal polarization, centrosome duplication, and synaptic function in neuroscience and cell biology research.

BRSK1 is a brain-selective serine/threonine-protein kinase that plays crucial roles in neuronal polarization and centrosome duplication. It functions downstream of STK11/LKB1 activation to phosphorylate key substrates including MAPT/TAU, WEE1, and gamma-tubulin, thereby regulating microtubule dynamics and neuronal architecture. The kinase also localizes to synaptic vesicles and presynaptic active zones, where it modulates neurotransmitter release through RIMS1 phosphorylation. Additionally, BRSK1 participates in DNA damage response pathways by regulating cell cycle proteins. The protein exhibits dynamic subcellular localization, primarily cytoplasmic with nuclear translocation following DNA damage, and shows specific enrichment at centrosomes and synaptic compartments, highlighting its multifunctional nature in cellular regulation.
