  • Description

Recombinant Human BCCIP Fragment (aa 57-314) is a high-quality protein product derived from the BRCA2 and CDKN1A-interacting protein, essential for microtubule organization, spindle stability, and DNA damage repair via homologous recombination. This 258-amino acid fragment has been computationally optimized for stability and solubility, making it ideal for structural studies, biochemical assays, and functional investigations in cell cycle and DNA repair research.

The full-length BCCIP protein, encoded by the BCCIP gene in Homo sapiens, plays critical roles in cellular processes during both interphase and mitosis. It is required for microtubule organizing and anchoring activities, and specifically stabilizes the spindle pole during cell division. Isoform 2/alpha is particularly important for regulating microtubule anchoring, stability, spindle architecture, and orientation. BCCIP promotes cell cycle arrest by enhancing CDKN1A-mediated inhibition of CDK2 activity and is essential for DNA damage repair through homologous recombination in conjunction with BRCA2, though it is not involved in non-homologous end joining. Subcellularly, BCCIP localizes to the nucleus, where it colocalizes with BRCA2 in discrete nuclear foci, and to the cytoplasm at microtubule organizing centers, including the centrosome, centriole, and spindle pole. Isoform 2/alpha shows stronger association with centrosomes compared to isoform 1/beta, and recruitment to spindle poles is mediated by microtubules and dynein/dynactin activity, underscoring its importance in mitotic regulation and genomic stability.
