Description
Loloatin A is a cyclic decapeptide antibiotic isolated from the Gram-positive spore-forming bacterium Brevibacillus laterosporus. It exhibits potent inhibitory activity against cyanobacteria, including Microcystis aeruginosa. The peptide is characterized by its unique cyclic structure, which contributes to its stability and bioactivity. Loloatin A disrupts essential physiological functions in cyanobacterial cells, leading to growth inhibition and cell lysis.
The algicidal activity of Loloatin A is attributed to its ability to interfere with cellular processes such as membrane integrity and metabolic pathways. Transcriptomic analyses reveal that exposure to Loloatin A induces significant changes in gene expression related to amino acid metabolism, lipid degradation, and energy production in target cyanobacteria. The peptide's mechanism involves the secretion of hydrolytic enzymes and secondary metabolites, which collectively contribute to its algicidal effects.

About TFA salt
Trifluoroacetic acid (TFA) is a common counterion from the purification process using High-Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC). The presence of TFA can affect the peptide's net weight, appearance, and solubility.
Impact on Net Weight: The TFA salt contributes to the total mass of the product. In most cases, the peptide content constitutes >80% of the total weight, with TFA accounting for the remainder.
Solubility: TFA salts generally enhance the solubility of peptides in aqueous solutions.
In Biological Assays: For most standard in vitro assays, the residual TFA levels do not cause interference. However, for highly sensitive cellular or biochemical studies, please be aware of its presence.
