Description
Activated protein C (APC), a serine protease, regulates the blood coagulation pathway by inactivating the coagulation cofactors Va and VIIIa. Amino acid residues 390-404 in the APC heavy chain are essential for this anticoagulant activity. The corresponding synthetic peptide as well as anti-peptide antibodies specifically inhibit APC activity in several coagulation assays with half-maximal inhibition at 5 uM peptide and 30 nM antibody, respectively.
