  • Description

ACTH (1-17), human, is a synthetic heptadecapeptide derived from the N-terminal segment of adrenocorticotropic hormone (ACTH). This peptide fragment has been studied for its potential role in modulating growth hormone (GH) secretion. In vitro experiments using primary cultures of rat anterior pituitary cells demonstrated that ACTH (1-17) induces only a slight, non-significant increase in GH secretion, even at micromolar concentrations. Similarly, no significant stimulatory effect was observed in human pituitary adenoma cells.

The biological activity of ACTH (1-17) appears to be distinct from its parent molecule, as it lacks the direct pituitary-stimulating effects typically associated with full-length ACTH. Its mechanism of action may involve interactions with the central nervous system rather than direct pituitary regulation. Further research is needed to elucidate its precise physiological role and signaling pathways.

  • Storage Guidelines

  • About TFA salt

Trifluoroacetic acid (TFA) is a common counterion from the purification process using High-Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC). The presence of TFA can affect the peptide's net weight, appearance, and solubility.

Impact on Net Weight: The TFA salt contributes to the total mass of the product. In most cases, the peptide content constitutes >80% of the total weight, with TFA accounting for the remainder.

Solubility: TFA salts generally enhance the solubility of peptides in aqueous solutions.

In Biological Assays: For most standard in vitro assays, the residual TFA levels do not cause interference. However, for highly sensitive cellular or biochemical studies, please be aware of its presence.
