Tris-buffered saline (TBS) is an excellent wash buffer for many types of immunoassays.

  1. Prepare 0.8 L of H2O in a suitable container.
  2. Add 24.228 g of Tris base to the solution.
  3. Add 87.66 g of Sodium chloride to the solution.
  4. Add H2O until the volume is 1 L.
  5. Adjust pH to 7.6 with 12 N HCl before adjusting to final volume with water. Prepared TBS is stable at 4 °C for 3 months.
