  • Background
TXNRD1(Thioredoxin reductase 1, cytoplasmic) is also named as GRIM12, KDRF and belongs to the class-I pyridine nucleotide-disulfide oxidoreductase family.Thioredoxin reductase is a key enzyme in the regulation of the intracellular redox environment. The human TXNRD1 gene is located on chromosome 12 and encodes aprotein of 495 amino acids with a molecular mass of 54.1kDa(PMID:11737861).The protein has 6 isoforms produced by alternative splicing.
