  • Background
TSPAN9 is a membrane protein of the tetraspanin superfamily, which are characterized by the presence of four conserved transmembrane regions. Tetraspanins have been involved in diverse processes such as cell activation and proliferation, adhesion and motility, differentiation, and cancer. TSPAN9 is relatively highly expressed in the megakaryocyte/platelet lineage and has a role in regulating platelet function in concert with other platelet tetraspanins and their associated proteins. TSPAN9 has been identified as a glycoprotein (PMID: 18795891). This polyclonal antibody detects endogenous TSPAN9 at a band of 29-33 kDa, which is larger than the calculated molecular weight of TSPAN9 is 27 kDa, probably due to glycosylation.
