Background
PCSK2(Prohormone convertase 2) is also named as NEC2(neuroendocrine convertase 2), PC2 and belongs to the peptidase S8 family. It is involved in the processing of hormone and other protein precursors at sites comprised of pairs of basic amino acid residues. PCSK2 is responsible for the release of glucagon from proglucagon in pancreatic A cells. This protein has 3 isoforms produced by alternative splicing.
