Background
GDE1(glycerophosphodiester phosphodiesterase 1) is also named as MIR16 and belongs to the glycerophosphoryl diester phosphodiesterase family. It is an 43 kDa integral membrane glycoprotein, which remains associated with membranes after alkaline (pH 11) extraction and is sensitive to endoglycosidase H and most likely involved in the remodeling of membrane PIs and regulation of membrane phospholipid composition, and hence in intracellular membrane trafficking, as well as in the modulation of G proteinmediated signaling(PMID:12576545). The full length protein has two glycosylation sites.
