  • Background
ALKBH7(Alkylated DNA repair protein alkB homolog 7) is also named as ABH7, SPATA11 and belongs to the alkB family. This protein may be a dioxygenase that requires molecular oxygen, alpha-ketoglutarate and iron. Quantitative real-time PCR detectes variable ALKBH7 expression in all 16 tissues examined, with highest expression in pancreas, followed by spleen, prostate, ovary, and placenta(PMID:17979886). The gene encodes a 25 kDa protein with a 20 amino acid signal peptide.
